There were some discrepancies, mostly in brands that offer similar color selections (Loreal, NARS, etc.). So it’s not perfect, but it definitely helps narrow down the sea of choices.Īfter trying all sorts of input combinations of two, three, and four face bases (I did the same thing with both my mom and sister’s products, since I don’t have enough foundations/TMs to thoroughly test the website), I’m pretty satisfied with the results. Though the NARS Sheer Glow was recommended in the color Fiji, NARS Sheer Matte was recommended in the color Punjab. For example, I tried Laura Mercier’s Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer in Nude (though Natural is a better fit, it was not an available option Natural is pretty much a yellow-based version of Nude, which is still pretty neutral) and NARS Tinted Moisturizer in Alaska. I’ve tested the accuracy of by entering combinations of my tried-and-true face base products and matching the results against products I already own. However, if you have a few foundation/tinted moisturizer/BB cream products that you like, and you’re in the market for something new, this is a nifty little tool that will help you hone in on the right shade. Now, if your foundation already doesn’t match you, this website won’t be able to find your correct shade.

It’s so easy, and it’s almost like getting a personal foundation match at a makeup store like Sephora… except you can do it online at home. Tinted moisturizers are also included in the entry list and results. For the most accurate results, multiple foundation entries are recommended. In other words, after you input the brand, foundation line, and shade, it will suggest other foundations from all different brands that match your entry.

It’s a free website that finds your perfect foundation shade based on your foundation match entries. Well… thanks to a fantastic website, I can rest in peace knowing that the strange color-match is definitely not my fault. I freaked out for a bit, thinking that I had been wearing the wrong foundation color this whole time, and that I had been going outside with a super tan baked-potato face and a pale neck. I’m sure that swatching some of the other available colors would have resulted in me finding a good match for my skin, but I have this thing where… if a liquid and powder foundation from the same company are released under the same name, I want to own the same-named color.

The color description for Punjab is “medium with golden peachy undertones.” In this case, there was a heavy, heavy emphasis on the “golden undertones.” The shade was such a bad match to my skin tone that I knew at first glance that there was no way it would match my skin. When I saw their Luminous Powder Foundation in the color Punjab, it was so dark. So in general, I’d say I wear a light-medium shade with yellow undertones. So I wear their Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer in the shade Alaska (classified as a light shade) and their Sheer Glow Foundation in the color Punjab (classified as a medium shade). But when I went to Sephora, I was so alarmed by the available shades and ended up leaving without even swatching the foundations. Though it doesn’t seem to be a super hyped product (yet?), the reviews that I’ve read have all been positive. I had a feeling that I’d like it since most things by NARS are a hit with me, but I definitely wanted to see it, feel it, and swatch it before purchasing. You can always utilize both the Honey and Vanilla shade with your Honey serving as the corrector/neutralizer, applying a thin amount letting it tone down dark circles before applying the Vanilla on top.As a NARS fanatic, I really wanted to try the new NARS Luminous Powder Foundation. Since you're focus is concealing the dark circles/undereye area, concealers used for this spot tend to be a shade or two lighter than your overall complexion or foundation shade due to dimensions of the face and eyes typically behind further back in comparison to features such as the forehead, nose, and chin. In regards to your foundation shade and how the Vanilla and Honey stack up, here are some visuals to reference for users wanting to chime in: It details out how specific colors correspond to one another and also gives tips on application and utilizing highlighters/under eye luminizers. In terms of utilizing correcting/neutralizing tones/products in conjunction with a concealer, check out my response in the below thread.
